FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "handmade" mean?
Handmade means there are no machines involved in the process of creating the dice. I use a pressure pot to reduce bubbles and ensure a clear smooth dice surface and I do use a pottery wheel to help sand, but they are still done by hand. This also means there will be natural "tool" marks that are unavoidable when you aren't a machine and merely a human. Please read here for detailed information about my definition of handmade dice.
Handmade when it comes to Acrylic Paintings means that despite all my best efforts, there might be specs of dust or environmental factors that are present in the final painting. The specs of dust are extremely hard to mitigate, I do my best. They will be considered as a usual part of the finished painting and not mentioned in the general description. Any other flaws will be noted. Please read here for detailed information about the handmade paint pour process.
What are shipping rates and times?
I will do everything in my power to ship within 7-10 days of ordering since I ink each set upon purchase. If I feel there is a delay I will reach out. It's just me at home while working and sometimes my children have things that come up that I must attend to. Currently, I have found the best way to ship is a flat rate priority USPS box. This has been the most consistent, durable, and convenient way to ship. This also means all orders will have tracking and insurance up to the cost of the purchase. I am working out the international price details, but, we will make sure it is affordable for everyone.
Do you take commissions?
The short answer is yes. However, it does depend on my current workload and other things that come up in my life. Please contact me at commission information to chat about making you something special.
Are the dice balanced?
Again, the short answer is yes. To an extent. Anytime there are inclusions in the dice, they can minutely affect rolls. This is not going to be noticeable in any standard play or home game, and most DMs are not going to care in the slightest. If there is an inclusion that affects the "randomness" of the dice, I will mention it in the description.
I do want to put here the "long" answer that I found from a fellow dicemaker, she sums it up perfectly:
"Long answer is that a better question to ask is, “do your dice roll randomly?” To which the answer is also yes. Dice can have minor to moderate weight variations without actually having their randomness affected. This has been tested by multiple companies and individuals. The things that do affect randomness are large weight discrepancies, such as a large bubble or heavy inclusion and, even more commonly than weight, the way in which the edges are shaped. High quality handmade dice are no less balanced or random than average commercial dice, and in many cases are actually more evenly weighted, as commercial dice often have different materials used inside to save on costs, or weights added inside to make them feel higher quality, or large internal bubbles that are invisible if the dice are opaque, and machine polishing always creates a small level of edge variation, which leaves many dice with slightly uneven edges. I love all dice, and mostly all this is to say that handmade dice makers get asked this question so often that it’s basically become a meme, and I hope that the gaming community grows past the idea that dice should be heavily scrutinized in search of perfect “balance.” If they can’t grow past that, then I hope they start heavily scrutinizing commercially manufactured dice rather than dice made by individuals." (Thank you Crafty Bunbun for this amazing answer)
Do you accept returns/refunds?
I want all my dice to be loved and cared for so, yes, I will accept returns/refunds for reasons that are NOT the standard tool marks I have mentioned. If there are other marks or actual defects that you do not deem acceptable, please contact me for a return/refund. If you are not happy with the dice in any other way, please contact me and we will discuss the issues! Of course if the dice are damaged in transport, we will work to correct that issue as well either by replacement, refund, or return.
What is the return/refund policy?
If you do find you need a refund or would like to return the dice, the first step is to contact me within 3 days of receiving the dice. Please allow 24 hours for me to reply. I will accept returns at the full purchase price minus shipping costs and a 3% processing fee. Once the return has been received by me, I will initiate the refund within 1-3 days. If the dice are defective, the processing fee and shipping costs will not apply. Dice must be returned in original condition.
Are your dice actually good?
I certainly like to think so! Each design is unique and created with love. These are meant to be works of art as well as playable (unless heavy inclusions, which will be noted in the descriptions, these are usually meant for display collections). I am a human, so my dice reflect that and are not perfect by any means. There is always a margin of error and accidents or mistakes do occur, but I will make a note of any and all MAJOR flaw or defects with the dice. I hope that you love these dice as much as I love making them, so if you are not happy in anyway, please contact me and we will work to make it right.
